Dear Young Adult and Parents,
The Southeast Minnesota Alliance of Peacemakers would like to provide you with information related to peace careers and military enlistment. We are sending this information to all 12th graders in the Rochester Public Schools for use as students make decisions about their future. We hope that the information will help you understand all facets of military enlistment.
Under the No Child Left Behind law the school district is required to release the names and phone numbers of all students if requested by military recruiters. If you desire to have your name removed from this list you MUST complete the enclosed “Opt Out” Form 515A2 and return this to the district department of records at the Edison Building 615 7th St. S.W., 55902 by September 20th. The form may also be obtained from the district web site (www.rochester.k12.mn.us). This form only removes your name from the military recruitment lists for that school year.
You should also know that additional information is available in the career center at each Rochester Public High School or from your high school counselor. Topics include:
Can I change my mind if I have signed a Delayed Entry Program (DEP) Military Enlistment Contract? (You are NOT legally bound to this contract.)
Am I a Conscientious Objector?
What are some “Peace Careers” available to me?

SEMNAP Youth Outreach Commnittee
